Sir/ma,
APPLICATION FOR MASTER'S DEGREE
I write to you in hope of seeking advanced studies in the University of Ottawa with an interest for master’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering program at your highly regarded university confident that such studies are essential for my career growth and will reward me for my entire lifetime.
I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical/electronic engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University, Turkey, with a CGPA of 3.42 over 4.00 and I have experience in the university’s internship program. A natural affinity towards electrical/electronic engineering made me compete with the best minds from all around the world and still performed superbly well in the mandatory discipline subjects.
At a very tender age, when electrical current and voltage were terms unknown to me, I would ponder about the functioning of televisions and every other electrical/electronic device which I can say very well that the taste for knowledge at such little age has prompted a passion for research years later. My undergraduate years most certainly contributed to my framing into a personality with a sound attitude for excellence. My unique enthusiasm in electrical/electronic engineering and my zealousness for the course helped me in basing my final year project on Tesla’s coil which enkindled me into assimilating some of the basic concepts in power engineering. I also believe that graduate degree will present me a solid starting point for my future industry pursuance.
Given my education and encounters, I am confident that I will be an astounding fit for master’s degree in Power system and would be willing to work with Prof XXX having seen the broad and thorough research conducted by him/her. Therefore I strongly believe that my choice to complete the postgraduate program at your institution is absolutely the best decision I have made.
